What is the difference?

In this post I am going to explain what is the difference between Arabica and Robusta coffee beans.

Arabica

*Also known as Arabian coffee, mountain coffee

Where does it come from?

Arabica is the most famous coffee type of bean, it does come from: Major South America, Vietnam, Indonesia, &Africa

Altitude

1300m - 1500m

(This is an average figure)

Caffeine content

The Arabica has a 1.5% (average) caffeine content which is around half of the Robusta.

Taste

High Acidy

Sweet taste

Floral & Fruity notes

Robusta

Where does it come from?

Due to quick research, we can find out Robusta comes from: Vietnam, India, Brazil & Africa.

Altitude

900m - 1000m

(This is an average figures)

Caffeine content

Robusta has a 2.7% (average) caffeine content which is around double the caffeine difference to Arabica.

The Robusta plant contains more natural caffeine in, which gets passed down to the cups we drink. Although this is great for instant coffee where we look for a boost of energy and not necessarily great flavour, it isn’t ideal for artisan standard.

For those that drink coffee for the delicious flavour, Arabica is usually the winner as a high caffeine content gives a bitter flavour.

Taste

Low Acidy

Bitter taste

Notes: Wood, nutty & earthy
